The side channel blower consists of an annular split housing where the vane impeller rotates. The blades near the inlet draw and compress the gaseous medium into the side channel blower. The negative blade air accelerates forward and outward. The negative gas of the annular shell deflects and returns it to the bottom of the subsequent blade.
