Festival origin
Mid-Autumn Festival originated from ancient Chinese moon worship and autumn harvest rituals, with early references to "Mid-Autumn" dating back to the Rites of Zhou. It gained popularity as a festive national tradition during the Tang Dynasty through moon-gazing customs, and became an official festival by the Song Dynasty. Blending legendary folklore such as Chang'e flying to the moon, the festival ultimately evolved into a beloved celebration centered around family reunions, expressing thanksgiving, and wishing for good fortune under the full moon.
